Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade
Ing. Jiří Koliba was born on the 2nd of May 1958. He is married and has two sons and one daughter.
He graduated from the construction faculty of the Brno University of Technology. After his graduation, he started working as a project architect at the company called the South Moravian Lignite Mines Hodonín, where he was active as a Capital Construction Officer, General Manager’s Assistant and a Construction Manager of the factory 04.
Between 1991 and 1993, he was employed by a construction company, in which he was working on establishing a foreign centre. In fact, later, he led that foreign centre as the Construction Manager for Germany. After his comeback to the Czech Republic, he worked in private sector companies as a manager of a real estate agency and as a technical manager.
In 1998 he was elected to be a Mayor of Hodonín city. He served in this function for two election periods until 2006.
In the years 2007–2009, Mr. Koliba worked as a Deputy Minister – Director of the Interdepartmental Sector at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. Eventually, he occupied the position of the Deputy Minister for regional development, legislation, EU funds and tourism.
In 2010 he started working as the Head of the Zoo in Hodonín, however, already in 2012 – 2013 Mr. Koliba led State Fund for housing development. He is also an expert witness in the major of economy – prices, real estate and enterprises valuation.
On the 15th of March 2014, he was named as the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade. In his function, he leads the sector of construction and raw materials.
In his free time, Mr. Koliba enjoys yachting, hiking, and mostly his own vinery, which is situated on his native land in Hodonín region.
